Jerseys and A Tackle Shield

We had two new things this weekend.  First, jerseys.  They look great!  The kids loved them.  It is starting to feel like a team around here.  Coach Paul did a lot of work getting this order right.  Give him a big sloppy kiss next time you see him*.

Second, a tackle shield!  This added a new dimension to the practice.  We practiced taking contact and then passing the ball with the younger kids.  With the older kids, we worked on the basics of the ruck.  It was really fun.

Later, Justice, Karl, Jack and Makaio went to the Glenwood field and practice kicking.  It is amazing what an hour worth of kicking practice will do.   Makaio went from not being able to even do a drop kick to kicking field goals consistently.  Awesome.  We played some other kicking games that got the kids catching big punts.

Overall, rugby from 10am to 3pm.  A perfect day!
